MIRI: Mohamad Nurhasri Maxzakir advanced to the final after defeating Terengganu’s Iskandar Shahfiq Nordin 59-55 in the silat men’s class E category.
Nurhasri led in the first round with a score of 19-13, maintaining his focus and keeping Iskandar off balance with his moves.
The fight was temporarily halted when Iskandar required medical treatment.
In the second round, Iskandar made a comeback, scoring 27 points to Nurhasri’s 18.
However, Nurhasri stayed determined and delivered clean strikes to increase his score.
Nurhasri has a distinctive personality, radiating a sense of confidence and resilience.
Despite the ruckus two days ago, and fighting in a nearly empty stadium last night (Aug 22), it does take a fighter with a strong character and determination to overcome such obstacles.
Nurhasri embodies that spirit and remains the only Sarawakian advancing to the final.
He won the third round with 22 points to Iskandar’s 15, securing a final score of 59-55 for Sarawak.
In another bout, Abdul Afiq Syamil Abdul Juwani lost 55-63 to Federal Territories’ Muhammad Darwisy Asyraaf Kamaruddin in the men’s class F semifinals.
