KUCHING: Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian will engage with the community here to talk about the rebuilding of old flats here.

“Recently, I was in Kuala Lumpur and I see that a lot of the old flats have been rebuilt.

“After they are rebuilt, they were given back, with better facilities, to the original residents,” said Sim.

Referring to the move as “urban renewal”, he hopes that the same can be done for Sarawak.

“I’m looking forward to engaging and speaking with the people who are actually living in the old flats here,” he said while attending the closing of the Gawai festival hosted by Kuching City South Council (MBKS) at the council’s Community Hall here on Thursday.

During his speech, the council’s Mayor, Dato James Chan congratulated his staff members for performing their best and making MBKS one of the best councils in the state.
