ENGKILILI: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP ) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian witnessed the installation ceremony of Engkilili branch committee during a Chinese New Year (CNY) luncheon and welcomed 150 new members into its fold yesterday.
Sim expressed his delight that these people believed in the party and there is rapid growth of SUPP Engkilili adding that is it an important branch to SUPP.
SUPP Engkilili leaders, he added, had maintained a good relationship with Party Central over the years. He was also happy that SUPP Engkilili members decided to stay with SUPP, unlike some leaders who chose to leave the party.
Sim stressed that, SUPP being a multi-racial political party and the new party leaders had worked so hard over the past few years to reunite the members and that the party had shown its strength, and he was hopeful that more people would join the party.
He also urged SUPP Engkilili leaders to be prepared for the upcoming 14th General Election to ensure Barisan Nasional (BN) could win the seat to build a stronger Sarawak.
SUPP Engkilili chairman Dandi Anak Timbang handed over membership application forms to Sim during the occasion.
Also present during the luncheon were SUPP treasurer Datuk Francis Harden anak Hollis, vice-president Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, organising secretary Datuk Matthew Chen Thin Kong, and central women chief Kho Teck Wan.
