KUCHING: As of yesterday afternoon, the fire in Similajau National Park in Bintulu was only partly contained.
Firemen who started the firefight since Sunday were still fighting the flames and had successfully controlled and terminated the fire in the area of around one acre. The total estimated area engulfed by the fire was about six acres.
Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department despatched their firefighters to fight the flames after a lunch break.
A total of 22 firemen were involved in yesterday’s firefighting team, headed by Mohammed Meramit.
