KUCHING : The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Stampin, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian is sad that some of his election posters have been vandalised. Dr. Sim, who believed in a “fair election”, said there should not be such things.
The BN candidate, who is Local Government and Housing Minister and Sarawak United People’s Party President, is facing Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) Chairman, Chong Chieng Jen in a straight fight in Stampin in the forthcoming 14th General Election (GE14). In the last General Election, there was a three corner fight in Stampin.
DAP’s Julian Tan, a newcomer, won the seat after beating Federal Minister, Datuk Yong Khoon Seng of BN and Soo Lina of STAR. Tan scored 41,663 votes against Yong’s 22,993 votes and Soo’s 239 votes.
