SADONG JAYA: Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said it is important to nurture young talents to develop future national athletes.

He highlighted the various sports programmes, including the annual athletics championship at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Terasi, which are being organised to identify and cultivate these talents from a young age.

“The process of identifying students’ talents begins at the primary school level because it is crucial to develop these talents further as they mature.

“The athletes representing their states in the recently concluded Malaysia Games (SUKMA) are the result of talents discovered at the school level,” he said during the programme recently.

Awla also encouraged parents to actively support their children’s participation in school sports activities.

“Physical strength contributes to children’s mental fitness, which positively impacts their academic performance,” he added.

The championship saw participation from three houses: Rumah Axia, Rumah Aruz, and Rumah Alza.
