The construction of the Simunjan Sports Complex, with a budget of RM1.8mil, has reached a completion rate of 70 per cent, according to Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris.
He explained that the ongoing work on the complex primarily involves upgrading the existing race track to meet the standards set by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF).
“The sports complex is a long-anticipated project that has been eagerly awaited by the local community, particularly the youth, as it provides a space for recreational activities.
“I have been assured by the contractor that the project implementation timeline aligns with the schedule set by the Public Works Department (JKR),” he said during a visit to the site on today (Aug 10). He was joined by Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee.
Once the Simunjan Sports Complex is fully completed, it is expected to serve as a central hub for recreational activities for the community in Simunjan District.
The enhanced facility would provide a conducive environment for various sports activities, allowing schools to organise annual sports tournaments and other events, Awla added.
