KUCHING: Simunjan district will have a swimming pool facility when the application for the Simunjan Aquatic Centre gets approval from the federal government.
In announcing this, Simunjan Assemblyman, Awla Dris said the construction of the centre is very important to facilitate the community sporting activities.
It also contributes to the development of swimming for the state with the availability of a swimming pool in Simunjan.
“I have submitted a proposal for the construction of the aquatic centre to Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar during his visit on the 29th SEA Games Torch Run and the 9th ASEAN Kuala Lumpur 2017 Samarahan Division in Simunjan Central Square recently,” Awla said.
According to Awla, the development of sports infrastructure in Simunjan is his main focus to ensure that the local community practise a healthy lifestyle through sports.
He added that the first phase of construction of the Simunjan Olympic-sized Mini Stadium was fully completed and it will be the main centre for holding various sports activities in Simunjan and nearby areas.
