KUCHING: Sarawak has promised Singapore entrepreneurs that it will do everything within its means to make it easier and comfortable for them to do business in the state.
Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS) chief executive officer Chew Chang Guan assured that his team was ready to “help build bridges across the South China Sea” to enhance Sarawak-Singapore economic ties.
“It is time to expand our trade and investment linkages. Now that we are free to travel, this is really the right time and place to get down to business.
“However, it is not all about trade as Sarawak has plenty to offer such as tourism, Sarawak-Malaysia My Second Home Programme, business events and other investment opportunities,” he said.
He said this in his speech during the Singapore Business Delegation Networking dinner at Pullman Hotel here last night.
Chew pointed out that Sarawak had been very successful in bidding for international conventions and events, saying that international organisers were often surprised by the freedom and creativity industry partners could bring to the events.
“I am grateful that Singapore was chosen by our farsighted state government as Sarawak’s first international trade and tourism office.
“At the same time, we are also not too proud to admit that the state has a lot to learn from Singapore’s international business successes,” he said.
