KUCHING: Sarawak received a total of 140,000 reusable masks from Temasek Foundation Singapore in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Co Pte Ltd (Statos) received the contribution on the government’s behalf, before handing the the masks to the state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Nov 25.
Statos chief executive officer Chew Chang Guan said he greatly appreciates the generosity from the foundation.
“We are thrilled and deeply moved by the kind gesture and support from Temasek Foundation and Singapore,” he said on Friday.
He said the Singapore and Sarawak are closely related, is just like a family.
“This is not the first time Temasek Foundation has contributed to Sarawak. In Sept last year, the foundation had contributed 3,000 N95 face masks to the state through Statos when it was hit by the cross-border haze with air pollutant index (API) reached a hazardous level,” he said.
He added in the April this year, the foundation also contributed 25 Fortitude Kit 2.0 to Sarawak, which was equivalent to 5,000 tests.
