KUCHING: The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) has facilitated a significant educational delegation from Temasek Polytechnic to Sarawak.
Statos said the visit marks a pivotal step in fostering educational ties between Singapore and Sarawak, aimed at expanding opportunities for student exchange and collaboration.
The delegation, comprising five personnel from Temasek Polytechnic’s International Relations Department, School of Business, School of Design, as well as School of Humanities and Social Sciences, arrived here to explore potential venues for future student trips and to engage with key academic and governmental institutions.
“Statos believes that this work trip will pave way for more students from Singapore to visit Sarawak in near future.
“Furthermore, we anticipate that this initiative will foster an increase in student exchange programmes between Singapore and Sarawak, strengthening the ties between the two regions,” Statos said in a statement.
Initially, it said the primary objective of the visit was to evaluate potential venues for organising student trips to Sarawak and to establish collaborative ties with esteemed institutions such as UNIMAS, Swinburne University, and the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak.
It was organised following a trip in May this year, where Temasek Polytechnic sent close to 70 students from Singapore to Kuching.
However, the recent visit had different objectives and was more focused on exploring collaboration opportunities with government agencies and identifying suitable venues for larger student groups.
Statos asserted that it played a crucial role in facilitating both the student trip and the work trip for the management of Temasek Polytechnic and senior lecturers, ensuring that the polytechnic establish important connections with the appropriate agencies in Sarawak.
