KUCHING: A 36-year-old Astro-based reality show singer pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday on a charge of cheating.
The singer, who is single, made the confession in front of Magistrate Faelly Jeffrey Lanjungan released the accused, a single, on bail of RM5,000 with two local sureties earning not less RM2,000.
According to the facts of the case, on Oct 5 last year, the accused was alleged to have cheated a company of RM21,974.43 at a local bank at Mile 3 here.
On Nov 5, the accused was charged with committing the same crime against the same company at the same location, this time involving RM21,071.15.
The accused is charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of not less than six months and not more than five years, a fine and whipping.
Faelly fixed March 25 for re-mention of the case.
