KUCHING: Hope Place recently reached out to assist a 44-year-old single mother here, providing essential food supplies to alleviate her circumstances.
The mother, whose name is Bong Siew Nee, lives at Stutong Baru with three school-going children and her 69-year-old mother.
“As a full-time mother, Siew is unable to find a stable income.
“Her children, aged between eight and 16, are doing very well in school and therefore, Siew tries her best to provide the best education for them.
“Siew will sometimes collect wild vegetables with her elderly mother. If there are extras, she will sell it,” said Hope Place in a press release.
Hope Place stated that Siew fetches her children to and from school everyday by using an old motorcycle.
“She is grateful that her elderly mother is still healthy and cares for her children very much.
“Siew also from time to time receives assistance from her other siblings. She is receiving RM500 monthly from the Social Welfare,” Hope Place added.
Hope Place also thanked Breakthrough for referring this family to them.
“We also gave the children school supplies, on top of the regular food support,” the non-governmental organization (NGO) stated.
