MIRI: The Ministry of Health (MoH) recently approved the administration of Sinovac vaccine for children aged five to under 12.
According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Tuesday (March 8), Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) minister in-charge Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin stated that parents who wished to have their children vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine could make an appointment at a private vaccination centre (PPV).
“Administration of Sinovac vaccine for these children started on Monday (March 7) in selected private PPVs with a Sinovac vaccine dose of 0.5ml (3mcg) given twice with an interval of 28 days.
“However, the administration of Covid-19 Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine to children is still the main option. The Sinovac vaccine can be administered if the child developed allergies after receiving the first dose of Pfizer vaccine or parents and guardians opt for Sinovac vaccine after being advised by health officers,” he said in a statement today.
Parents or guardians with children aged five to under 12 yet to be vaccinated and who wished to obtain the Sinovac vaccine can make an appointment by phone call or physically going to the selected private PPV with identification documents.
