BINTULU: SITC’s VIP Delegation yesterday visited Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad and conducted technical visit to Bintulu International Container Terminal (BICT).

Group CEO of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, Dato Mohammad Medan Bin Abdullah received the delegates from SITC which consist of SITC Vice-Chairman of the Board and Group CEO Mr. Yang XianXiang, President of SITC Shipping Group Mr. XueMingYuan, Manager Director of SITC Shipping Asia Pte, Ltd., Mr. SeoYoungTaek.

In the fruitful meeting and discussion, Dato Mohammad Medan Bin Abdullah recognized and acknowledged SITC’s continuous growth and support in making BICT the main Hub Port in this region. SITC mentioned that as one of the top Intra-Asia Container Lines in this region, they are supporting the China Government strategy on ‘One Belt One Road’ project aims to make Central Asia more connected to the World.

SITC Container Lines, being one of the leading Intra-Asia container lines, started their inaugural call to Malaysia, atBICT,Bintulu Port in September 2014. This marked the first ever direct call for SITC to Malaysia’s Port. Since then, SITC Container Lines has become one of the major Shipping Lines that contributes to Bintulu Port’s container throughput which connected Bintulu direct to Intra-Asia marketwhich include China, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. The shipping connectivity from Bintulu to Intra Asia Ports by SITC has help to benefits the manufacturers in Sarawak especially Samalaju Industrial Park’s Investors.

Last year, BICT had achieved the highest container growth rate among Malaysian Ports with 14% growth making a total of 277,711 TEUs and achieved the biggest volume in East Malaysia. BICT is recognized by the shipping lines as one of the most efficient and liable Container Terminal in Malaysia.

SITC delegates aside from the meeting has conducted technical visit to BICT and is impressed at the BICT vessel, yard and Container Freight Station (CFS) operations. Mr. Yang, the Group CEO of SITC appreciates the strong support given by Bintulu Port, and indicated that SITC will continue to provide liable and high quality integrated logistics service to their clients in Malaysia.Both SITC and Bintulu Port believe that with continuous cooperation and collaboration,both parties ultimately will contribute to the economic growth for the Sarawak State and the Nation.
