KUCHING: Police arrested six locals suspected of assaulting a man in front of KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital last Sunday (Oct 1).
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said they received a report from the victim around 7.04 pm, who claimed to have been attacked by a group of men armed with a knife.
He said the incident occurred in the parking area of the hospital after the victim brought his child for treatment at the hospital.
As a result, the man sustained head injuries and was treated at the hospital.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack.
“The next day (Oct 2) at 5.50 pm, a special police team six men in connection with the case.
“Background checks found that the suspects have prior records for various offences involving violent crimes, drugs and commercial crimes.
“Urine tests found that five of them tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said.
Ahsmon said the suspects will be for four days until Oct 7.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 10 years in prison, a fine or whipping or any of the two punishments upon conviction.
