SRI AMAN: Police have arrested 13 local men for allegedly participating in holo and mahjong gambling sessions in Simanggang Town District on Tuesday.
Acting on information, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) raided a premises located on the first floor and uncovered the gambling den in the building at 6.30 pm.
Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said that the team discovered a group of men huddling around a table, believed to be playing holo and mahjong.
“All of the suspects, aged between 34 and 70, were taken into custody.
“Six elderly men were among those arrested in the raid,” he said.
He added that the suspects along with the various gambling equipment were taken to Sri Aman CID office for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
