BAU: Three farmers and three foreigners ended up behind bars after they were found gathering in a house by police at Jalan Emas-Jambusan, Bau on Saturday.
Bau District Police Chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the offenders aged between 20 and 68 years old were arrested for defying the movement control order (MCO) around 5.15pm.
“A team from Bau District Criminal Investigation Division (CID) conducted a Covid-19 snap check and made the arrests.
“They found the six individuals — three local men and three women — gathering and drinking in an unnumbered house,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Poge added that the police had warned the group as many as three times but to no avail.
All the offenders were taken into custody as they had disobeyed the MCO directive and failed to provide a valid reason. The case is currently investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Regulation 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within The Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020, and Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
