SEREMBAN: Four women and two men are feared lost while hiking Gunung Angsi in Kuala Pilah yesterday.

Seri Menanti Fire and Rescue station operations commander, Norhirwan Zainal, said they received a distress call at around 7.31 pm regarding a group of hikers believed lost on the mountain.

“Initial information indicates that all the victims have not returned home, prompting the caller to seek assistance from the fire department to locate them.

“Acting on the information, six Seri Menanti Fire Station personnel rushed to the scene aboard an FRT (Fire Rescue Tender) immediately upon receiving the call to launch a search and rescue operation,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

He said that upon inspection at the scene, two vehicles were found at the foot of Gunung Angsi believed to belong to the victims.
 
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan JBPM Zone 3 head, Fire Superintendent, Yusry Abdullah Sani when contacted said that all the victims aged between 28 and 42 years old were found to have registered in advance at the forest office lodge.

According to him, all the climbers who were believed to be from Selangor, have not yet checked out of the mountain and the rescue team, which was also assisted by the police, searched for victims up to the top, but there were no trace of the victims.

“The search will continue at three locations where the victims are expected to descend, namely in Ulu Bendul, Kampung Jkin in Kuala Pilah and in Taman Tuanku Ja’afar (TTJ) in Seremban.
