KUCHING: The Ramadan Bazaar will be back when fasting begins next month following a two-year pause triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Six locations will host the bazaar this year, according to  Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) deputy chairman, Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim.

Three will be organised by the local community and another three by the private sector.

“As part of the local community, Persatuan Peniaga & Penjaja Sarawak will run their bazaar at the Sentosa Square, Kota Sentosa.

“JKKK Taman Malihah Phase 1 will have theirs at the Taman Malihah Shoplot Carpark and Kelab Silat Olahraga Gerak Kuntau Melayu Asli will also be putting up their bazaar at the Lee Ling Commercial Centre in Matang.

“As for the private sector, Emart Batu Kawa, and Emart Matang will have their own bazaar, both located at their respective parking areas.

“Azfa Success Enterprise will also run a Ramadan Bazaar, located at the Prince Commercial Centre in Batu 7,” said Ahmad.

He said this during a press conference after the Ramadan Bazaar committee meeting at the MPP building today.

“In regard to standard operating procedures (SOP) at the bazaars, we will have to wait for announcement from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) or Ministry of Health (MoH).

“However, the public still need to adhere to the guidelines like wearing face masks, practicing social distancing and scanning their MySejahtera QR code to enter premises,” he reminded.

He urged food handlers at the bazaars to get their anti-typhoid vaccination and have food handling course certificates.

Ahmad also urged the public to get Covid-19 vaccinations to curb the virus situation in the state.
