SIBU: The police have arrested six men on Thursday for alleged involvement in a gang robbery at Jalan Khoo Peng Long.
Sibu Police Chief, ASP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement today said that all the suspects were arrested following a police report of the robbery on Oct 19 at 11.30 pm.
According to him, during the robbery a 57-year-old man was harmed and suffered from forehead and chest injuries.
“The victim was hit using a blunt weapon by a group of local men. The victims suffered the loss of a cell phone, personal documents, and cash amounting to RM13,000,” he said.
Zulkipli noted that on Oct 20, the district’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) made six arrests and seizures at different locations.
“The local suspects are between 27 to 40 years old. All the suspects have been remanded for seven days to help with the investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
