BINTANGOR: A family of six was left devastated after their single-story wooden house at Jalan Sungai Sian, Teluk Bulat, was razed to the ground today (Dec 19).

Fortunately, all family members, aged between five months and 30 years, did not sustain any injuries as they managed to evacuate safely during the 1.40 pm incident.

A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from the Bintangor station were promptly dispatched to the scene, approximately 15 km away, after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they found the house beyond salvation.

The fire was quickly extinguished using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant and the fire truck.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team concluded the operation at 2.53 pm.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses incurred are still under investigation.
