KUCHING: Police have issued six summonses for various traffic violations in an operation conducted during Hari Raya Aidiladha (Jul 20).

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the summonses were for failure to abide by traffic rules, fancy licence plates and exhaust modifications under its Ops Motosikal.

“Five motorcycles and seven individuals were inspected throughout the operation around 5.30pm at Taman Malihah, Matang here,” he said on Wednesday (Jul 21).

Aidil said the police had also carried out a similar operation in June at the same location.

He said 19 motorcycles and 20 individuals were inspected, adding that 38 summonses were issued for various traffic violations.

“The offenses include having no driver’s licence, expired driver’s licence, no insurance coverage, inappropriate licence plates, no licence plates, no side mirrors, exhaust modifications and vehicle structure modifications,” he said.

He added that two motorcycles were also seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 during the operations.
