MARUDI: Police here issued a total of six traffic summonses during a four-hour integrated crime prevention operation codenamed ‘Op Selamat 18’ yesterday.
The operation, led by the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division chief Insp Erwin Geoffry Ussan as field officer together with the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Insp G.Visvanathan Guna Cekeren and 11 rank-and-file police officers, was carried out around the district from 10 am to 2 pm.
According to Marudi OCPD DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib, the team inspected a total of 52 individuals from 85 vehicles and issued six summonses to road users for various traffic offences.
He added that the operation, held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, focused on crime prevention measures in public and commercial areas.
Mohd Ruslan said it also focused on monitoring accident-prone hotspots and areas where suspected illegal road activities were being carried out.
The team also conducted snap checks to inspect vehicles and motorcycles.
