SIBU: The Sibu Journalists Association (SJA) will host an event to celebrate its members and strengthen their bonds on May 21, said SJA president Yii Souk Ming.

In a statement yesterday, he said it is in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2024 celebration, scheduled in Kuching from May 25 to 27, since some media practitioners in the state could not attend the national event due to their work schedule.

“There will also be a presentation of incentives to children of members who are still in school and studying at higher education institutions as an encouragement for them to excel in their studies,” he said, adding that a simultaneous pre-Gawai celebration would be held on the same day.

Themed ‘Etika Teras Kewartawanan Mapan’, HAWANA 2024 which serves as a significant platform for professional media fraternity and industry experts to exchange ideas and establish strategic relationships, will gather over 1,000 media practitioners, representatives from local journalist associations, and media representatives from Asean member countries.
