BINTULU: Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Chung Hua Bintulu wowed audiences with their 24 Season Drum performance during the Chinese New Year (CNY) open house here.
The open house held at the Dinner World Restaurant yesterday was hosted by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) together with Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming.
Approximately 2,500 people of different races and cultural backgrounds joined the event.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang also did not miss out on spending time by attending the open house.
Meanwhile, Pang said although the CNY is a celebration of the Chinese community, it can be shared by people coming from different races who also celebrate the festivities together.
“This is the best avenue for us to strengthen the unity between the races that have been existing for a long time.
“Therefore, I hope that this practice can continue to be passed down to the future generations in order to maintain peace, religious tolerance, and cultural understanding between the different races,” he said.
At the same time, he also hoped that the Year of the Rabbit could unite all and to jointly rebuild the country following the COVID-19 pandemic.
