KUCHING: SJK Chung Hua No. 1 has successfully raised RM400,000 at its charity fair, where funds will be used for maintenance and plans for building smart classrooms.
The charity fair, held at its school compound today, had 90 stalls selling food and beverages, as well as other items, as thousands, including school parents, teachers, students, and school alumni, flocked to the event.
The highest contributors for the fundraising event were Yung Seng Construction Sdn Bhd with RM30,000, followed by Dahfa Foods Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (RM20,000), and both Lee Onn Group and Kapitan Tan Kun Gee (RM10,000).
In addition to that, SJK Chung Hua No. 1’s alumni, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, and Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian also contributed RM10,000 to the school.
The deputy premier was represented by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief Kho Teck Wan, who was also present to officiate the charity fair.
Among those present were the Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division president Datuk Richard Wee, the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, and Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament Dr Kelvin Yii.
