SIBU: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bruit won the first place in the national-level Innovation Competition Presentation Exhibition (Compex) 2019 held in the federal capital recently.
Congratulating the school on its success, Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab said it was testament of the true capabilities of these kampung children.
Yusuf said it showed that rural students could succeed in any endeavours with the proper motivation and guidance. More amazingly, he noted that SK Bruit defeated 130 other teams from the whole of Malaysia with their innovative creation of Buku Sains IT (ITSB).
“I hope that this success will encourage other schools, especially those in rural Sarawak, to continue improving their efforts in order to achieve success in the future.
“SK Bruit’s success also proves that limitations are not obstacles to success. Even with their limitations, they still gave their best efforts and won. Congratulations to SK Bruit!” said Yusuf.
Senior assistant of student affairs at SK Bruit Matusup Yaakub attributed the success to the commitment of educators, particularly the science teachers who presented unique and attractive ideas.
According to him, the inspiration behind ITSB came from a science teacher of the school who wanted to make the learning process more fun for the students. ITSB has its own applications and ensures students in rural areas are not left behind in the world of ICT.
