BELADIN: The new building project for SK Tambak has been approved under the fifth phase of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) and is set to be implemented soon.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn confirmed that the project is a federal government initiative under the Ministry of Education (MoE).
“SK Tambak’s new building was approved in the fifth round of RMK-12 after the initial approval for the construction site,” he said, adding that the project is now awaiting funding allocation, after which the detailed specifications and costs will be outlined.
Sagah shared these updates in response to remarks made by Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor during the launch of the Sarawak Education Enhancement Programme (SEEP) at SMK Beladin on Monday (Nov 4).
Built in the 1940s, SK Tambak faces challenges with inadequate classroom facilities.
While six new classrooms have been added, another six remain less conducive, and the school’s current location in the village is becoming increasingly cramped.
Razaili appealed for the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) to push the federal government for expedited project completion.
“We hope the plan for a new SK Tambak on a spacious, new site can soon become a reality,” he said.
