SARATOK: Free university education which will be implemented by the Sarawak government starting in 2026 demonstrates that its leaders want to produce skilled human capital.
Skilled labour is needed for Sarawak’s new economy and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has a clear vision towards this end.
“Without strong support from the government in terms of education, our local human capital may be difficult to develop,” said Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Dur.
He said this during a meeting with the youth of the Kalaka constituency who will continue their studies in public universities here today.
He explained that free education will open up more opportunities for the youth in Sarawak to continue their education to an even higher level.
“Therefore, children are urged to seize the free education opportunities provided by the Sarawak government.
“Study hard until you succeed in order to contribute to the development and prosperity of Sarawak one day,” he said.
As for children who fail to go to university, he urged them to choose other paths especially in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) or digital innovation skills.
