KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 2,707 Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Sept 19), a slight decrease in comparison to the previous day’s 2,929 cases.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total number of cases, 2,700 or 99.74 percent were in Category 1 and 2, while seven cases or 0.26 percent were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
“There were 1,788 cases or 66.01 percent in Category 1 (no symptoms) and 912 cases or 33.69 percent in Category 2 (mild symptoms).
“Category 3 (lung infections) had one case or 0.04 percent while Category 4 (lung infections and requiring oxygen) recorded two cases or 0.07 percent and Category 5 (lung infections and requiring ventilator) with four cases or 0.15 percent,” the committee said.
Kuching District reported the most cases at 697 followed by Bintulu (355); Sibu (333); Miri (228); Samarahan (165); Serian (162); Bau (144); 61 each in Lundu and Asajaya; Saratok (55); Kapit (51); Subis (49); Lawas (41); Sarikei (40); Simunjan (37); Pakan (29); Lubok Antu (19); 18 each in Song and Beluru; Sebauh (17); 15 each in Sri Aman and Limbang; Pusa (14); Tebedu (12); Selangau (11) and Kanowit (10).
There were eight cases recorded in Belaga; seven each in Mukah and Tatau; six each in Betong and Bukit Mabong; five each in Julau and Marudi; Meradong (four) and Telang Usan (two).
The committee also said that as Sunday (Sept 19), there were 117 new persons under surveillance (PUS) recorded.
“With this, the total number of PUS undergoing quarantine at the respective quarantine hotels and quarantine centres in the state is 3,425. A total of 151,439 PUS had been discharged statewide,” SDMC added.
