KUCHING: The state registered 460 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Nov 7), a slight decrease compared to Saturday’s 499.
This brings the cumulative number of cases detected in Sarawak to 244,574 to date.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily Covid-19 update, said 454 of the new cases were categories 1 and 2, while six cases were in categories 3, 4 and 5.
Kuching registered the highest number of cases with 152, followed by Miri with 83, Sibu 34 and Bintulu (30) cases.
“The rest of the cases were reported in Serian (22), Dalat (16) Mukah (14) and Kanowit (10), while only single-digits number of cases reported in Simunjan, Tanjung Manis, Subis, Sarikei, Betong, Bau, Lundu, Song, Saratok, Limbang, Julau, Samarahan, Meradong, Tebedu, Beluru, Kapit, Belaga, Marudi,Telang Usan, Sri Aman, Kabong, Matu and Lubok Antu,” it said on Sunday.
SDMC said four Covid-19-related deaths were also reported on November 5 and 6.
“The death cases consist of victims aged 46 to 95 from Kuching, Sibu, Limbang and Serian divisions.
“All of the victims had histories of chronic illnesses or comorbidities,” it added.
The committee also announced the end of the Melaban Cluster in Limbang.
“No new cases were reported in the cluster for the past 28 days with the number of active clusters in the state now at 22,” it said.
