KUCHING: Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) has organised a two-day workshop called ‘Effective Media Writing Workshop’ (Bengkel Penulisan Media Berkesan) from Monday (Oct 5) at the SMA Creative Heritage Centre here.
The workshop, which was jointly organised by Sarawak Media Group (SMG), covered general knowledge of media writings — styles, strategies — as well as effective ways of media writing, such as press releases and newspaper articles.
It also taught basic language skills in terms of vocabulary and grammar such as spellings, meanings and choosing the correct nouns or words with the right context.
The event was handled by speaker and trainer, Faizal Zakaria, who has extensive experience in the field of professional writing for almost 15 years by serving as a cadet journalist in Kosmo! in 2004.
On Monday, three modules were covered, namely ‘Introduction of Public Relations’, ‘PR and Current Challenges’ and ‘Writing for Media’, while to tomorrow, the workshop will cover ‘Press Releases Writing Techniques’ and ‘Media Management Techniques’.
The workshop is free and welcomes everyone, especially marketing practitioners, community builders, content creators, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and students.
