MUKAH: The shores of Mukah beach have started to be visited by many locals keen to catch ‘bubuk’ or better known as small shrimps.

Many had gonet down in large group and uses their tools to catch the small shrimps.

In fact, people are also on the beach selling small shrimps near the Mukah wet market here.

According to a buyer and small shrimps enthusiast known as Pak Anjang, he shared his experience regarding the selling price of a kilogramme of small shrimps which is RM10.00.

According to him, due to the large catch by many fishermen the last two days, the price is reasonable and small shrimps fans will definitely go for the purchase.

“Fresh small shrimps are suitable for making cencaluk and processing them into belacan,” he pointed out.

In addition to catching small shrimps, fishermen in Mukah at this time also catch a lot of different types of fish.

Mukah’s wet market, especially during the weekend holidays, is patronised by many people both from Mukah itself and visitors from outside Mukah.

Despite the presence of many people, the catchers or fish sellers at the Mukah wet market are selling fish at cheap prices.

The types of fish that are very popular in the Mukah wet market at the moment are terubok, tenggiri black pomfret, Jamah fish and many more.

All the fish are sold at a reasonable price according to the type of fish. For example black pomfret fish is sold at a price of RM30 per kilogramme, while puffer fish is costing RM15 per kilogramme.
