KUCHING: Non-streaming in secondary schools will not necessarily bring about negative impact to the nation’s human resources and capital.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) senior lecturer Dr Nordi Achie said Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik’s proposal to abolish the streaming system in secondary schools could be considered but its implementation must involve smart approaches.

“Change is a necessity but we must adopt smart approaches in its implementation,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Nordi noted that the idea was still in its infancy and there was little information or details on how the proposed change would be implemented.

“If the ministry could plan and execute the idea comprehensively and with commitment, I believe that all or almost all of the practical and futuristic idea could materialise.

“May God bless our nation,” he quipped.
