SIBU: The Ministry of Education, Innovation & Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD), in collaboration with the Sibu Digital Innovation Hub (Sibu DIH), Sibu Vocational College, and the University Technology of Sarawak (UTS), is set to host the Smart Innovation Competition 2023 (SIC2023), themed ‘Towards Sustainable Development Goals.’
Sibu DIH manager Abang Fairul Syarmil Abang Mohd said the programme is scheduled to take place on November 10 and 11 at the UTS Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall, here.
“SIC2023 is expected to serve as a platform to promote innovation and creativity among students, and the competition is open to all of Malaysia.
There are three categories: Category A for Higher Education Institutions (IPT), Category B for Secondary Schools, and Category C for the Open Category (open to primary school students, secondary school students, and higher education institutions),” he said in a statement today (Sept 30).
Abang Fairul said that for Categories A and B, participants will be required to prepare posters related to their innovations in addressing one of the following issues, namely parking issues at most government general hospitals, food wastage in restaurants or enhancing school safety to prevent bullying and create a safer learning environment
Meanwhile, for Category C, he said participants are required to prepare posters related to their innovations following the theme “Towards Sustainable Development Goals.”
“Participants in each category have the chance to win trophies, certificates, and cash prizes, with awards ranging from RM600 to RM1000. We strongly encourage participation from schools across Malaysia.
“The top 10 teams in Categories B and C, along with 20 teams from Category A, will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations during SIC2023, scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Sibu,” he said.
