KUCHING: Teachers’ teaching techniques should change along with the rapid explosion of the latest technology.
Following that, the state government proposed to supply smart television (TV) facilities to all primary schools in the state.
“We understand that many primary school teachers suggest that their schools be equipped with smart TV facilities.
“This is because the teaching and learning process through the smart TV mechanism is easier compared to other media devices such as LCD projectors,” said Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development I Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee to the media here yesterday.
Earlier, he presented as many as 20 smart TV sets for primary schools in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Nangka area in a ceremony held at SK Abang Ali here.
Annuar who is also the Nangka assemblyman, said that with the availability of this smart TV facility, it is easier for teachers to explain a topic using videos and animations that are more realistic than other media devices.
According to him, in schools that do not have an internet network, the teachers only need to upload the information needed for the learning session and then install it on the smart TV.
In the meantime, he plans to distribute smart TVs in every classroom in all primary schools in the DUN Nangka area.
That desire, he explained, has been thought about all this time to help teachers improve the quality of their teaching, especially in DUN Nangka.
He added that DUN Nangka has 203 classrooms involving 10 primary schools.
Of the number of primary schools in question, he explained, one of them has the Sibu Special Education School.
