SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) today approved the opening of the Ramadan bazaar here.
Its chairman, Clarence Ting Ing Horh, said three locations had been approved for the Ramadan bazaar, namely at Dataran Bandar Sibu Phase 2, Pelangi Food Kiosk Kampung Nangka and Bandong Walk.
He further explained that the application form is limited and based on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.
“Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to limit the number of hawkers.
“This is to enable all standard operating procedures (SOP) to be complied with, especially by future visitors,” he said when chairing the SMC monthly meeting here, today.
Forms for hawkers in Sibu Town Square Phase 2, he said, can be obtained from the Chairman of the Sibu Stall Operators Association by contacting Hussin at 014-398 9667 on April 1, 2021.
“Hawkers at Pelangi Food Kiosk and Bandong Walk must get the form at Taman Selera Harmoni from 9 am-12pm.
“For these two locations, application forms are only issued to existing hawkers,” he said.
Ting said, for ‘Stand Alone’ stalls in the villages, all existing stalls and for those who want to open stalls in the village/roadside during Ramadan must apply and obtain the form at Taman Selera Harmoni on April 1, 2021 (9am – 12pm).
He explained that the form is also limited and based on a ‘first come first serve” basis.
The ‘standalone’ stall, he added, is not allowed to operate during Ramadan without approval from SMC.
“All application forms must be returned on April 5, 2021, before noon in the box provided in the lobby of Wisma Sanyan. Any delay will not be entertained.
“Applicants who are allowed to operate during the month of Ramadan will be subject to the results of the swab test and other terms and conditions set by SMC.
“A fee of RM20 will be charged for each application while for the swab test, it will be coordinated with the Ministry of Health (MoH) on April 6, 2021.
“Typhoid injections are mandatory for all food handlers at every stall,” he stressed.
He added that the locations for ‘Stand Alone’/Roadside stalls in the villages during Ramadan are in Kampung Datu Lama, Jalan Masjid, Kampung Hilir, Kampung Bharu, Kampung Nangka, Kampung Abang Barieng, Kampung Jasmin, Kampung Datu Baru, Jalan Utama Bandung, Simpang Tiga, Sentosa, Kampung Hijrah, Kampung Jeriah, Seduan Jaya, Desa Satria and Bahagia Jaya with a limited number of stalls allowed.
