SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting and entourage today (Sept 30) paid a visit to Rejang Park recycling centre here.

Their visit was to check on the condition and situation there.

“I was glad to visit this clean and neat recycling centre operated by a Buddhist association. Their recycling earnings are donated to the poor and needy.

“Now the association is asking SMC to give them more land where they will set up a centre to teach people on the importance of people the importance of recycling and thereby protecting the environment in the process,” he told reporters during the site visit.

The caretaker says on weekends there are many volunteers who come to help with the packing and keeping the place neat and tidy, he added.

Ting therefore wishes all the recycling centres under the council’s jurisdiction to be operated with cleanliness.
