SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is keeping a close eye on contractors who are not up to mark.

Its Chairman, Clarence Ting said they would be hauled up and given a warning if they cannot fulfill their duty.

“We have always been like that and lately, in one area, we have not been very happy with their grass-cutting service,” he said, adding  the council has been getting feedback on the matter.

“Last year we cancelled one contractor in one area after two weeks because they could not deliver,” he said when met by reporters after attending ac ‘gotong-royong’ at Kutien Garden, Bukit Lima today.

Ting was asked for his response to a statement made by Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian on Saturday that bad contractors risked being blacklisted by government and possibly barred from receiving contracts.
