SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) on August 15 went to the ground to inspect the cause of the drain blockage at Jalan Rambutan/Jalan Tiong Hua.
According to its chairman, Clarence Ting, he visited the area again with his team.
“We investigate those areas that caused the blockage and found out that residents tend to build concrete crossover in front of their house as cars become the norm in this area.”
“Over the year, the drain become silted, and flow of water become worse and worse.”
“So council has to tackle this problem,” he said.
He explained that SMC would get the drain to flow first by using pipes.
The pilot pipe project was tried at Jalan Belian and found to be effective, he said.
“Now we will expand to other areas with this simpler solution.”
“EA Sa’adi went with me to identify the spots that need to be rectified,” he said.
