KUCHING: Sarawak has yet to decide when to allow small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to resume operation.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the state government will announce soon whether to follow the federal government’s decision to allow resumption.
“On Sarawak’s part, we have been advised by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg with the approval by the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on the decision to allow certain industries to operate 100 percent.
“Sarawak has been given the mandate to look into our own circumstances. When a law is decided, that is mandatory for us to follow but there are guidelines which give us the leeway to look at the situation as it fits Sarawak.
“The bottom line is we will try to ensure that this Covid-19 war is won and at the same time, taking into consideration various other impacts,” he said during the daily press conference on Covid-19 yesterday.
