SONG: Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong Punan led a delegation comprising various heads of government departments from Kapit and Song to check on the progress of construction of SMK Song No 2 at Song-Temalat Road here, recently.

Upon their arrival Belayong and entourage were briefed on the progress of construction by project manager, Mr Liew.

The construction of the RM20.7 million SMK Song 2 began on 28 April, 2016 and is expected to be completed by 27 July, 2017 with Hart Builders Sdn Bhd as the main contractor.

Belayong was happy to note that the construction of the new secondary school was running smoothly and hoped that it could be completed on schedule.

When the new school is ready, it would help to ease overcrowding at the two existing secondary schools in Song district namely SMK Song and SMK Katibas.

The school project was a ‘sick’ project as the earlier contractor failed to complete the work. It was later re-tendered and was awarded to Hart Builders Sdn Bhd. The school is now 65 per cent completed.
