SIBU: SMK St. Elizabeth here has achieved the best ever 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results in its history.

According to the school principal, Chee Hue Yiang, out of the 170 candidates who sat for the examination, 89 students or 52 per cent obtained at least 5A and above.

She said there were eight top scorers, with one scoring 10A+, 1A, 1A-, who is none other than Ranee Kang Yan Han.

The others are Loh Jia Min (9A+, 1A, 2A-), Lau Yi Xuan (8A+, 3A), Rachael Ling Yi Cheng (7A+, 3A, 1A-), Teng Shiaw Huei (7A+, 3A, 1A-), Ho Xin Yi (8A+, 1A), Vanesa Cheng Tin Tin (7A+, 2A) and Elva Ling Enn Hui (7A+, 3A).

Stating this at her office here today (June 12), Chee said she together with the outstanding students went to State Education Department’s auditorium in Kuching for the appreciation ceremony for excellent academic performance recently.

She said the GPS (Gred Purata Sekolah) the school achieved is at 2.38 which has improved and is better than the previous year.

Among the 16 subjects, she said, 10 showed improvement in Malay language, English, Moral Education, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Science, Geography, Art, Economics and Chinese language.

Chee expressed her gratitude to the Education Department, school board of management, Old Students’ Association, Parent-Teacher Association, parents and teachers for all the support and sacrifices which resulted in the school’s excellent academic achievement.

“I am happy with the overall SPM results achieved thus far. It is through consistency, hard work and sacrifice of time” she added.
