KLANG: The acceptance and understanding of the people on a complete ban on smoking in Selangor is improving after three days of enforcement but stall operators are still slow in putting up warning signboards.
Selangor Health director Datuk Dr Khalid Ibrahim said in the operation launched since Tuesday, it was found less than 50 percent of the food stall operators put up smoking ban signboards in their premises as stipulated under Control of Tobacco Product (Amendment) Regulations 2008.
He said most stall operators including traders operating under canopies at the roadside were not aware they were subject to the regulations.
“For restaurant and food shop owners, we found almost 70 percent displayed the signboard while some are still not aware,” he told reporters during a smoking ban operation around Klang yesterday. –Bernama
