SIBU: The early voting process for the Sibu parliamentary seat at the Sibu district police headquarters (IPD) went smoothly today (Nov 15).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said 597 officers and their families are expected to fulfil their responsibilities at the Wisma Pengaman IPD Sibu and Sibujaya police station polling streams.

“The Sibu IPD early voting process is from 8 am to 5 pm. We are all healthy, we follow all the standard operating procedure (SOP) instructions of the Election Commission (SPR),” he told reporters

Asked if there had been complaints related to the 15th general election (GE15), Zulkipli said there were no serious cases since the nomination day.

“We are grateful to the people in Sibu for their maturity and cooperation with the police to ensure public safety.

“This kind of situation should be maintained throughout the campaigning period until the day of voting and after the election,” he said.

On manpower, Zulkipli said for Sibu, sufficient personnel will be deployed at all polling stations across Sibu for both Lanang and Sibu constituencies on on Saturday.

“Overall (for Sibu) we have a strength of about 700 officers and we will ensure smooth voting process on Nov 19,” he said.
