KUCHING: The second day of rehearsals for the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA 2024) opening ceremony went without a hitch at Sarawak Stadium on Tuesday (Aug 13) night.
The rehearsal, which kicked off at around 8 pm, saw the presence of Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, and Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is set to officiate at the opening ceremony this Saturday (Aug 17) is scheduled to attend the full rehearsal on Thursday (Aug 15).
Earlier this week, thousands of eager individuals lined up at dawn to secure up to four of the 15,000 free tickets distributed over a span of two days.
Despite enduring long waits under the scorching sun and navigating through three different stations, the excitement for the Aug 17 opening ceremony — promising vibrant performances that celebrate Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage — made the effort worthwhile for those fortunate enough to get tickets.
For those unable to secure tickets, the opening ceremony will be broadcast live on television.
