KUCHING: It has been smooth sailing for the state Land and Survey Department in carrying out land surveying activities in Bidayuh-majority areas.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, when speaking at a handing-over of land titles ceremony in Siburan here today, commended the Bidayuh community for cooperating with the department throughout the land survey process.

He emphasised that it is important to give cooperation to ensure that the land survey process can be expedited.

“Their presence on the ground when survey works are being done has managed to speed up the process.

“I am thankful for their continued cooperation,” he said.

He added that the documentation process carried out by the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) has also expedited the land survey process.

“Even though it is not 100 percent correct, the initiative has helped us to carry out land survey works in these areas,” he explained.

Awang Tengah pointed out that the cooperation shown by the community also shows their eagerness to claim their rights.
