KUCHING: A man wanted for snatch theft has been arrested ̶ committing another crime.

The day before, he and an accomplice, who is still at large, mercilessly assaulted a woman and made away with her handphone at the rooftop car park of a shopping mall in Batu Kawa near here on Wednesday.

A CCTV clip that has since gone viral showed the two criminals assaulting the hapless victim who was sitting on the kerb.

One of them even had the cheek to have a smoke first before committing the dastardly act. They rushed into their car parked near the victim and drove off.

State CID chief SAC Dennis Leong told New Sarawak Tribune that one of the suspects from Taman Rose had been arrested the following day while committing another crime.

The suspect had gone to a bed and breakfast (B&B) establishment in Jalan Temple at around 9.30am with nefarious intentions.

Meanwhile, SAC Leong has warned the public not to habour criminals or they will face the full extent of the law.
