KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan (pic) said Sarawakians were fed up of the empty promises of the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

“Enough with your empty words. We are sick of them,” he said in a statement released yesterday.

He ticked off state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen for his attacks on  Gabungan Parti Sarawak.

“The formation of the Federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP) which it claims is a way to channel federal funds to villages in Sarawak is politically motivated,” said Snowdan.

He laughed off Chong’s statement that the federal budget had allocated a huge sum to repair  dilapidated schools in Sarawak.

Snowdan pointed out that the RM783 million allocation paled in comparison to the RM1 billion which was allocated by the previous Barisan Nastional government.

“Chong went to the trouble to justify the meagre development allocation to Sarawak and Sabah and said that the RM9.6 billion was more than 30 percent of the overall funds while it was only a paltry 17.1 percent,” he added.

Snowdan also lambasted  DAP supremo Lim Guan Eng for saying that GPS was in cahoot  with the PAS-Umno federal opposition to challenge the federal constitution.

“I challenge him to prove that is the case. He talked big about protecting the interests of Sarawakians.

“Sarawak will be developed in its own mould. There is no need to fret over whether the coorperation with PAS-Umno will affect the development of the state.

“We do not need to rely completely on the federal government but that does not mean it can forget about its responsibilities as enshrined in the federal constitution,” he said.
